As part of the “long term” intention for this amazing house (1910 Craftsman), I am hopeful of eventually trading out furnishings for Danish, mid-century modern items. I can see it is going to be a slow process as they are difficult to come by as originals (not to mention pricy!) and expensive to have re-created.
This said, I have the extreme good fortune of having located a company that does just this (master craftsman, hand-made mid-century modern-esque creations): Thrive Furniture.
“The Plan” at the moment is to acquire their “Kennedy” sofa and chair (x2) and “Monroe” chairs (x4) lines slowly, over time (and likely piece by piece) and a “Miller” table for the dining room. From there, to camp eBay and acquire finishing touches like lamps, credenzas, end tables, etc.
I actually began the process last week by snapping up an incredible (original!) lamp and equally amazing chair in turquoise. They are shipping Greyhound Express (blanketed) and should arrive next week.

Lamp is on the far left in this shot.
Needless to say, it’s nice to be able to focus on making a home again… I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
